Frederick Family Dog Training LLC also operates the following "dba" in the state of Iowa:
Payments are due upon booking. Payment default is an emailed invoice through our Square Invoicing platform. Payments can also be made via Venmo if client desires, however we do not accept cash or check. You may also purchase lessons on our Square Booking Platform.
Reminders for payments will be sent to the client. If payments are not made in this timely manner, FFDT reserves the right to do any or all of the following: cancel all client lessons and/or charge a late payment fee. Please communicate to FFDT if considerations need to be made. Payments for services must be made prior to any lesson or service.
In cases of thrid parties paying for training, in the case of Service Dog Programs, lessons will be added to your account and available once payment has been received. Examples of this are: insurance, grants, workers compensation, etc.
Our business strives to fit trainings into the client’s normal schedules, and we do this through “flexible scheduling”. Flexible scheduling allows the client to schedule appointments based on their own schedules. They do this in two ways: The first way is to schedule lessons by reaching out to our business and trainers with dates and times that work for them. At that point, we find a time that works for both parties. The second way is to utilize our third-party scheduling service which contains potential times that are open to the trainer.
It is the client's responsibility to schedule any training appointments, and failure to do so within the expiration time frame results in forfeiting services and payments. Lessons expire one year after purchase date.
FFDT does not offer refunds for services or charges unless under extreme circumstances and on a case by case basis. On our client form, which all clients sign and have access to, it states:
"I voluntarily employee Frederick Family Dog Training for training services. I understand there are no refunds for any payments for services. I understand lessons purchased expire one year after purchase date."
This also holds true for our Service Dog Program, Therapy Dog Program, and Intensives. Service Dogs and Therapy Dogs also sign the agreement that additionally states the policy directly related to the programs.
FFDT understands that life happens, and sometimes, training need to be cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute. We are gracious in our cancellation and rescheduling policy, however, repeated client reschedules and cancellations within 48 hours of the lesson can result in loss of lessons, and inability to schedule with FFDT. Should FFDT need to cancel or reschedule for any reason, you will be notified and appropriately rescheduled.
If your dog has vomiting or diarrhea or other signs of illness, a reschedule is required. Likewise, if you or an immediate member of your family is showing any signs of illness such as fever, cough, vomiting, etc. a reschedule will be required. Dog and humans must be free from illness/symptoms for 24 hours pr to lesson.
If a dog shows any symptoms of illness during a lesson of any kind, a reschedule will be required. If this happens during an Intensive or Take and Train, FFDT will contact the owner.
Bites and aggression are evaluated on a case by case basis. However, should a bite or excessive aggression occur during a lesson on another animal or human, appropriate actions will be taken based on the severity.
FFDT uses Ian Dunbar's Bite and Aggression Scale Levels 1-6. Bites Level 3 and above are a mandatory report to law enforcement.
Any lessons resulting in a bite will cease until further evaluation from FFDT.
FFDT travels all over the state of Iowa and beyond. Below are the travel zones and fees associated with travel. All travel zones are based off of NW Ankeny, Iowa to owners home. Behavior is not static; an animal will not continue to perform even trained behaviors without ongoing practice, especially involving any types of aggression or anxiety. Although behavior may be modified, the dog is never considered “cured”. A pet’s behavior is ultimately the owner’s responsibility.
FFDT will make every reasonable effort to help attain goals but makes no guarantees of performance on the part of Client or pet as a result of providing professional animal behavior consultation. Training will only be helpful if the family remains committed and consistent in the training of their dog, as taught by our trainers.
Additionally, even dogs that have graduated our programs require maintenance training by the owner/handler, or with our trainer. Dog training is a process, and takes time. FFDT will relay teaching methods with examples to the best of their ability, including conversations, emails, videos, photos, and reports.
Any dog undergoing a spay or neuter must wait 10-14 days post procedure to schedule a training session. This is to keep the dog as safe and as healthy as possible post spay/neuter.
Spay/Neuter is required for Therapy dogs and Service dogs and is highly recommended for other dogs.
If your female is in active heat, we will postpone lessons until the cycle is over.
FFDT follows the guidelines of the Iowa weather channel, Iowa DOT and recommendations from local law enforcement. We will cancel lessons for extreme weather from excessive heat to blizzards to protect staff, clients, and dogs. . Look on our social media for weather cancellations. These lessons will be rescheduled for a safer weather day.
FFDT does NOT use prong collars or shock collars, nor do we recommend them. FFDT recommends clients use alternative methods and tools and would be happy to give appropriate suggestions.
FFDT requires all clients sign a photo and video release. This release allows FFDT to use any photos or videos on our social media accounts or our website. Clients can make their choice on the form whether or not they allow video or photo usage.
Clients are key to the success of their dog's training. We ask that the clients follow through on homework assignments given, provide updates to how training is going, and celebrate the small successes.
Client responsibilities include, but are not limited to: scheduling lessons, praying for invoices, maintaining training, utilizing proper communication methods, fill out required forms, full financial responsibilities of their dog, and other relevant responsibilities and actions of being a dog owner and training with FFDT.
FFDT holds two-four group trains per month. Training varies each month in location and skills trained. Dogs must be on leash at all times
If your dog is in active heat, they are unable to attend group train. If your dog shows signs of aggression as deemed by FFDT, you will be asked to leave group train. Dogs must remain on leash. At least one adult age 18+ is required to be in attendance with a minor and dog.
